About us

Over 40 years of trusted advice

At Ryley Wealth Management, everything started with a very small amount of savings which was enough for a desktop computer, printer and a mobile phone. David Ryley set up the business alone in February 1999, having saved up while working at his first job after university – just enough to get a car on the road and start seeing clients. From that beginning, the practice grew steadily: first a part-time assistant, then a full-time PA, then, in 2007, the first Financial Planner to join David, who went on to spend the best part of twenty years with the business.

Today, Ryley Wealth Management is a team of eleven advisers and more than thirty staff, supported by a dedicated management team overseeing quality, compliance and client experience. What has never changed is the reason David got into this industry in the first place: helping people, and developing relationships built on trust.

We think of our work as a genuinely multi-generational job. Many of our client relationships span decades, and it is not unusual for us to move from helping someone directly, to helping their children, and eventually their grandchildren too – setting the next generation off on the right foot as much as looking after the last.

We work closely with business owners throughout the life of their business, particularly around the pivotal moment of a sale and what comes next. We are proud to support clients wherever they are in the country, from Scotland to the south coast.

That focus on trust and outcomes has been recognised externally too: Ryley Wealth Management has been rated a Top Rated Advice Firm by VouchedFor every year from 2023 to 2026, with more than 985 client reviews and a 4.9-star average. This makes us one of the UK’s best regarded Advice Firms. In 2026, as part of the Client Experience Awards, we were Highly Commended in the Client Trust Category and we were extremely proud to win the VouchedFor National Client Care Award making us one of the most highly respected firms within the Financial Services industry.

In 2026, we joined Söderberg & Partners Financial Planning, drawn by a shared culture of true partnership and by access to forward-thinking technology that lets our advisers spend even more time exactly where it matters most: with clients.

Guiding business owners through the moments that matter most

Working with business owners is where our founder, David Ryley, feels most at home as a Financial Planner.

We are there throughout the growth years, helping owners plan for their financial future as the business itself grows and changes. But it is the sale itself that often matters most, and this is where we can make the biggest difference. In the run-up to an exit, we help business owners put the right financial planning in place well before the deal is done, so that when the moment comes, they can be prepared for it, rather than simply reacting to it.

What happens afterwards matters just as much. Once a business has been sold, we help clients structure the money they have built up over years of work, generating a reliable income for life, and planning around inheritance tax on wealth that has suddenly become far more real than it ever was inside the business.

It is a significant, sometimes emotional, moment for anyone who has built something from scratch, and we see our role as being there for all of it: not just the transaction, but the years either side of it.

1% Matters: giving back, together

David Ryley set up 1% Matters because he believes that people who have done well in life have a responsibility to help those who have not been as fortunate – a value instilled in him as a child.

The idea is simple: businesses and individuals donate just 1% – of turnover, of profits, of dividends, or of salary. On its own, 1% might not sound like much. But brought together across many people and businesses, those small contributions add up to something significant – enough to fund school books for children who need them, for example; wheelchairs for people who need mobility support, or minibuses that collect isolated and lonely people and bring them somewhere to spend time with others, before taking them safely home again. 1% Matters aims to help children, the elderly and the isolated, those that are vulnerable and those suffering from mental health problems.

For clients of Ryley Wealth Management, 1% Matters is not a separate story from their financial planning – it is part of the same philosophy. Just as we help clients look after the people who matter to them, whether that is their children, their grandchildren, or their wider family, 1% Matters extends that same instinct outward, to people who have not had the same fortune. David and the wider Ryley Wealth Management team are proud to support the charity, and proud that some of the same values that shape how we work with clients – helping people, and doing right by them – sit behind it too.

Advice built for a life in sport

Professional sportspeople live a different financial life to most: a career that is often short, sometimes unpredictable, and built around earnings that can look very different in a player’s twenties compared with later life. At Ryley Wealth Management, we work with clients from the world of sport, including football and cricket, who have built exceptional careers in the game but have not always had the time, or the specialist support, to plan for what comes financially alongside it.

We help these clients make sense of everything that comes with a sporting career: managing significant but often front-loaded earnings, planning for life after playing, and making sure that success on the pitch or on the field translates into lasting financial security off it. It is specialist territory, and one that combines our core belief in relationships first with a genuine understanding of what a career in professional sport actually looks like.

As part of Söderberg & Partners Financial Planning, we continue to build on this expertise, helping clients from the world of sport plan with the same care and attention we bring to every client relationship.

Planning that spans generations

For many of our clients, the plan we build together is not just about them – it is about their whole family. Our advisers often describe it as building a “family group”: starting with grandparents, working through to children, and often ending up looking after grandchildren too.

That shapes the advice from the very start. Rather than simply answering the question a client walks in with, we take the time to understand the wider picture, and it is not unusual for us to end up helping siblings or parents too, once trust has been established within a family.

For the next generation, that often means starting young: setting up Junior ISAs and Pensions for grandchildren, and getting them on the path to saving and investing long before they are old enough to think about it themselves.

It is a long view of financial planning: not a single conversation, but a relationship that can span decades, built on the trust a family places in us to look after not just their money, but their future.
